How did it all start?

Nige and I thought that Babe was cool enough for our wedding day and soon after other friends asked us if they could use her too.  From that we realised that we should start  a VW wedding vehicle business!  Simple as that!  I’d always wanted to have my own business but nothing inspired me enough until Bug & Bus was born!

Cupcake Dolly-Yes Please!

Filed under: Our Bug Friends! — by Nicola @ 21:09

CupCakeDollyLogo[1]  I found this wonderful company recently at a Wedding Fair and was totally charmed by the concept.  Basically it is a personalised cupcake service-they’ll make cakes for weddings, birthdays and other celebrations.  The cakes were so delicate and beautifully decorated and taste of them was divine.  They had great ideas for wedding favour cupcakes and even a wedding cake made up of little individual cupcakes.  Take a look at their equally delightful website:  www.cupcakedolly.co.uk

Basil- the best!

Filed under: Testimonials — by Nicola @ 19:11

watermark-2This testimonial makes me smile every time I read it.  The bride and groom basically drove through the Salisbury Festival with crowds of tourists all around the camper.  No wonder they felt like celebrities.  Congratualtions to Sophie and James, I’m so pleased we made your day.

“Just wanted to say an enormous thank you to you all for providing us with the most talked about wedding transport anyone had seen!! We absolutely loved travelling in Basil, it was a massive highlight of our day.

Going to the Medieval Hall Salisbury with my Dad and three bridesmaids was one of the most memorable and happiest journeys of my life! Then coming back to our reception in Basil as husband and wife was an absolute joy! We felt like celebrities, it was fantastic!!

Cant wait to get the photos back(-: Thank you so much for playing such a big part in our magical wedding day!

 With kindest regards and gratitude,

  Sophie and James Kinsley”

We worked with fab photographer on Saturday.  He’s great fun, fresh, dynamic and really added to making Adrian’s and Lucy’s wedding day a great success.  He was well organised but shot photos spontaneously in order to capture the feel of the wedding.  He seemed to make everyone feel at ease.  I took a look at his website ( www.chrissuch.co.uk )- oh yeah!  I can’t wait to see how he snapped our VDubs!

More happy newly weds!

Filed under: Testimonials — by Nicola @ 20:15

Thank you so much for making our wedding day special. We loved having Betty the beatle as our wedding car. The special touches like the champagne were great. The chauffeur was brilliant, he looked very smart, helped put us at ease and was thoughtful (putting Betty’s side windows down for our photos and putting the roof down before we got in and out). After a trip down the beach, we ran slightly over our time slot but Solent Bug and Bus didn’t charge any extra. They were professional, reliable and we would definitely recommend using them for a wedding car with a difference!

Thanks again

Beautiful Naomi and her new hubby!
Beautiful Naomi and her new hubby!

The newly weds chose New Place near Wickham to host their wedding reception.  What a wonderul place! Not only does it have a dramatic driveway to enter in a cool Beetle, the building and grounds are impressive and impecibly kept.

Darren and Charlotte Gordon say thanks!

“We hired Betty for our wedding in Dorset. She looked beautiful and we were able to get some fab photos with the roof down. Our driver Nige was great, he put some music on the radio and helped to calm some of the nerves! He gave some great advice and really added to our enjoyment of the day. He was also really helpful when it came to the photos. The bubbly on the way to the reception venue was a lovely surprise and went down a treat! All in all we were very happy with the service we received, it was perfect for our big day.”
 Thank you so much,
 Darren and Charlotte Gordon

Basil is a popular fellow!

Basil- Our Handsome Split-Screen Camper

Basil- Our Handsome Split-Screen Camper

The rush for summer bookings next year has already begun!  Basil, the most popular Bus choice by far, has had so many enquiries for June, July and August 2010 in the last week that I’ve lost count!  Apart from the fact that he is a 60’s Split-Screen camper, he is a subtle and stylish colour.  Plus he is spacious enough to fit even the most voluminous  wedding dress or up to 5 passengers.

Sarah and David- 25th July 2009

Filed under: Weddings — by Nicola @ 20:38

100_0429Nigel came back from this wedding absolutely buzzing!  First of all, he loves going somewhere new.   He was charmed by the beautiful Hampshire countryside and the Clock Barn in Tufton Warren.   Sarah and David were great fun and had planned with us to have a little drive around the countryside as newly-weds.  As well as bringing the photographers with them, Sarah also brought her wellies so she could have a stomp in the golden fields!!!  Nigel raved about the photgraphers- Peter and Sue Bradshaw of ‘Focal Pix Photgraphy’.  He said they were really friendly, well organised and had great photographic ideas.  They took some fab shots of Betty the Bug in a corn field with the Bride (and Groom) looking demur in her flowery wellington boots.

Sarah and David booked us over a year ago so it is lovely to see them both finally at their Big Day.  Many congratulations!

Have you booked your good weather yet?

You’ve planned the perfect day, everything is ready…the dress, the perfect location, a groovey car, delightful food, great company!   The only thing you can’t guarantee is the weather!!  However, you can still be prepared for any eventuality.  Read on for Betty’s advice on being weather-wise on your wedding day:

1.  Ask your chauffeur if they have wedding unbrellas.  We have 2 large, white golf umbrellas for our bride’s party!  If they don’t make sure you have one on stand by.

2.  If your hair is threatening to flop in the rain before you reach the church, consider a waterproof hair shield ( the ones old ladies wear on the way back from a shampoo and set!!).  The groom will never see you in it and your hair will remain perfect.  Just make the vicar/registrar promise not to tell anyone!

3.  Ask you chauffeur to park as closely to the venue as possible to avoid being out in the rain for too long.

4.  If it’s cold, try to bring along a shawl.  It can be left in the car but it ensure you don’t turn blue with cold!

5.  If it is hot try to bring a bottle of water to drink, a tissue to wipe any perspiration and an emergency make up supply just in case it runs!

6.  Finally, if it is a beautiful day, make sure still you apply sun cream.  My chief bridesmaid became sunburnt after an hours worth of photos at my wedding and looked like a lobster for the rest of the day ( sorry sis!).
